The RSA believes that everyone should have the power to turn their ideas into reality. RSA Catalyst £10k Scaling Grants enable established projects to scale and grow, moving projects on to the next level.

We only award a very limited number of £10k grants. We prioritise applications from projects that best demonstrate how our grant will have the greatest impact.

Eligibility Criteria

You will need to be able to answer the following questions in order to proceed with your Catalyst application.

Are you a Fellow of the RSA? *

In order to apply for a Catalyst Grant, you must be a Fellow of the RSA. To find out more about Fellowship, please visit www.thersa.org/fellowship. If you are in the process of becoming a Fellow but have not yet had your Fellowship approved, please contact catalyst@rsa.org.uk for further information.

The RSA requires applicants for the Scaling Grant to have evidence that your project is structured in a way that supports your social aims and is governed in a specific way. Please pick one of the options below. *

If you are unable to provide evidence that your project is structured in one of these ways, or you have further questions, please email catalyst@rsa.org.uk

Please tell us a bit more about the governance structure of the organisation behind your project. (400 character limit.) *

Any information provided beyond the character limit will not be recorded.

In order to be eligible for a £10k Catalyst Scaling Grant, your project should already be established and you should be able to demonstrate that your project works. Does your project fit these criteria? *

Proof of concept in this circumstance means that you have already tested your idea and that there is documented evidence that its potential product or service can be successful.

In order to be eligible for a Catalyst grant, your project must have been previously tested. We want to know that you have documented evidence that your project works. To discuss your project's eligibility, please contact RSA Catalyst by emailing catalyst@rsa.org.uk

Your Catalyst Scaling Grant application should be aligned to your wider strategy for growing your project. Does your project fit this criteria? *

A strategy for growth should include a clearly identified market, reasons why this audience will purchase your service or product, and an understanding of the activities you need to conduct to take your project to the next stage. Your strategy should include information about the costs you will incur.

If your project does not have a clear strategy for growth or you have additional questions about what this might mean for your project, then please email catalyst@rsa.org.uk

Your project should align with one of the three key areas of RSA work. Which of the key areas does your project align with? *

(For more information about our key themes, please visit www.thersa.org/about-us/our-work)

Your project must align to one of the RSA's key areas of focus in order to be eligible. If you further questions please email catalyst@rsa.org.uk

Having gone through its initial testing stage, your project should demonstrate the potential for achieving measurable social impact and for becoming sustainable. Do you have evidence that your project meets these criteria? *

We seek to fund projects that aim to be sustainable, which means they can continue past the life of the Catalyst grant. Often projects or ideas cannot be continued due to external forces or unforeseen circumstances but we seek to fund projects that have a vision for sustaining their ideas beyond the short term. For Catalyst Scaling Grants, evidence of sustainability is a requirement. There will be an opportunity to expand on your project's potential for measurable social impact and sustainability later in the application.

If you do not have evidence of your project's sustainability, or if you have questions about your project's measurable social impact, please email catalyst@rsa.org.uk

Total funding sought from RSA Catalyst *

This should be up to £10,000.

Please tell us how you intend to use these funds by providing a budget breakdown in the form of a list. *

In this budget breakdown, each item should be rounded up to the nearest £50. Please include information on what each amount will pay for and what this will deliver. Please note that the RSA is unable to give out the whole grant in one installment; keep this in mind when submitting your budget breakdown.

The grant should not just provide part of the funding structure for your overall project. Rather, Catalyst Scaling grants should provide funding for a specific element of the project. This could be either a specific area of the project you wish to develop further or that you want to address a new problem or demographic as part of your work.

(800 character limit. Any information provided beyond the character limits will not be recorded.)

When will these activities take place? What is your intended timeline?

Please bear in mind that it can take approximately three months from the closing date for each round of applications to be assessed and this should be reflected in your timeline.
